- Everyday Bar FAQS -
What is the Everyday Bar?
The Everyday Bar was created around a simple principle: eat the meat you can afford. Built with clean, high-quality ingredients, it makes real, nutrient-dense food more accessible for everyday life without compromising on quality.
Designed for daily use, the Everyday Bar features a convenient 1 oz (30 g) portion size and balanced macros that fit seamlessly into your routine. Whether you're at work, traveling, outdoors, or simply need a nourishing snack, it's an easy way to keep real food within reach.
Inspired by founder Phillip Meece's experience as a military medic, the Everyday Bar was developed with the belief that good nutrition shouldn't be a luxury.
What is difference between new Everyday bar and our previous "OG" bar?
The primary difference is the ED bar is smaller, now 1oz compared to the 2oz OG bar.
Here's the story: Our OG bars were made from beef from a single farm in America (Joyce Farms). That supplier discontinued their beef program because they couldn't do it economically.
Our original process built bars from scratch from that single source of raw meat, which was expensive in time, labor, materials, and manufacturing costs.
That forced us to look elsewhere.
Eventually we found South American grass-fed beef and paired it with grass-fed, grass-finished tallow to form our new ED bars. This let us remove 80% of our manufacturing labor and associated costs, which ultimately let us take the OG bar from ~$16 a bar down to the new $6 a bar.
So the main driver is price.
Since our 2019 Kickstarter, our biggest critique has always been the cost of making a stone-age food like pemmican modern and convenient.
The rising cost of grass-finished beef sent us back to the drawing board on how we source and produce it. Necessity is the mother of invention, and we finally cracked the code for delivering this whole-food pemmican at a price that works for everyday eating.
The changes come down to three things: grass-fed beef paired with grass-finished tallow, removing 80% of our manufacturing process, and making the bar half the size.
As a veteran-owned company still made in America, we'll always put honesty first.
What is the difference between wet and dry pemmican and the importance?
“Wet pemmican” is not true pemmican. Because meat is naturally 70–80% water, controlling moisture is essential for safety and shelf stability. USDA guidelines identify 0.85 water activity (aw) as a critical threshold—above this level, mold and bacterial growth can occur, impacting quality and shelf life.
To ensure safety and longevity, we use specialized equipment called a Water Activity Meter to verify our product stays well below this limit. The Carnivore Bar maintains a standard under 0.3 aw, ensuring maximum stability and quality.
True pemmican is designed to be shelf-stable for extreme durations—outliving the consumer—and the Carnivore Bar is built on that principle. We are the first true pemmican-style commercial bar to reach the modern market in over 300 years.
What quality beef and tallow are in the Everyday bar?
You asked, and we listened. The Everyday Bar is made with 100% beef with no additives, paired with grass-finished beef tallow to support both nutritional quality and clean, simple sourcing.
Our conventional 100% beef is tested to ensure it is free from antibiotics and our grass-finished beef tallow is carefully sourced for quality and consistency. This allows us to offer a more accessible option while maintaining ingredient integrity.
Grass-finished tallow naturally retains beneficial fatty acid compounds, including CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) and stearic acid. CLA is a naturally occurring fatty acid found in ruminant fat, and is studied for its role in metabolic health. Stearic acid is a long-chain saturated fatty acid (C18:0) that is more structurally saturated (stable) than many other dietary fats and is often noted for being more metabolically neutral compared to some other saturated fats. Together with naturally occurring trace omega-3s, these fats contribute to the nutritional profile of the bar.
We’re proud to offer an accessible, whole food option rooted in the belief to “eat the meat you can afford (and thrive)”—while still maintaining high standards of quality and simplicity.
What is the sugar content and source for the Everyday bar?
Ingredient integrity remains our priority. We sweeten with real food only, avoiding artificial and common 'natural' sweeteners.
We use raw honey sourced from northern regions, specifically Sleeping Bear Farms, to help reduce exposure to pesticide and herbicide runoff (including glyphosate) common in dense agricultural areas. This honey is primarily derived from bees that forage on star thistle flowers, a clean, consistent floral source known for its purity.
While many brands market “sugar-free,” we prioritize transparency—no stevia, monk fruit, erythritol, sucralose, or allulose.
If you prefer no sugar at all, we recommend our Everyday Bar in the Salted flavor.
Why have an Everyday Bar with potatoes?
Potatoes are a root vegetable long used as a traditional and survival food, valued for their ability to provide reliable, energy-dense nutrition. While not always abundant in the wild, they have historically been a practical staple for sustaining populations.
When properly cooked and prepared—and especially when cooked and cooled—potatoes develop resistant starch, a prebiotic fiber that reaches the colon and feeds beneficial gut bacteria, supporting normal gut and digestive health.
This makes potatoes a practical, real-food ingredient for the Everyday Bar—offering simple, accessible fuel and gut-supportive benefits for those who tolerate them.
*This may be a good option for those struggling with CIRS or POTS (if you tolerate potatoes).

Is your bar gluten free, dairy free, lactose free?
All Everyday Bars are gluten free. All flavors are also dairy free, with the exception of the Potato Ranch, which contains buttercream in the ingredients.
Is your bar high histamine since it has extended shelf life?
No. Our Everyday Bars are intentionally designed with histamine sensitivity in mind. Histamine in beef increases with extended aging, which is commonly used in many grass-fed and finished beef products (typically 14–31 days) to enhance flavor and tenderness. By using conventional beef and a more controlled process, we are able to better manage histamine levels and maintain consistency.
Why do your bars have more fat than protein?
Our bars are designed as survival food, not traditional protein snacks. The focus is on sustained energy and satiety, not just high protein content for casual snacking.
Fat provides long-lasting fuel and helps support satiety, while also slowing digestion when paired with protein, which can help blunt a glucose spike and moderate insulin. Protein is still important, but in a true survival context, fat becomes the key macronutrient for sustained energy needs.
Historically, diets too high in very lean protein without enough fat—known as “rabbit starvation”—can be unsustainable over time, as seen in frontier and indigenous survival scenarios where lean game was the only food source. Traditional northern diets, such as those observed in Inuit populations, emphasized high-fat animal foods to maintain energy balance and long-term survival.
Our formulation reflects that principle: fat-forward, bioavailable amino acid profile, nutrient-dense nutrition designed for endurance and survival, not light snacking or filler food.

Do you use a special wrapper?
The wrapper is a multilayer composite. The food contact surface is a high-grade metalized film, similar in composition to Mylar. It is 3x more expensive for 10x more protection against leakage. It is essential for the longevity of the product that nearly all oxygen and moisture be blocked out in order to keep the pemmican shelf-stable. Ancestrally, it would have been stored in rawhide and sealed with a sacrificial cap of tallow that would not have been eaten. This would keep it preserved for as long as it remained dry and out of direct sunlight. Legend has it that it has survived for more than 50 years in this manner. Unfortunately, rawhide will not pass modern food safety standards, so some compromises had to be made. The high-barrier metalized film is critical to the modern pemmican’s shelf stability, longevity, and fresh delivery to each and every customer.
Why use beef vs beef isolate, collagen, or whey protein?
Real beef is a whole food with a complete, naturally balanced amino acid profile—exactly what humans are biologically designed to consume. Unlike protein isolates or blended sources like whey and collagen, which can skew amino acid profiles and inflate protein content without providing a complete nutritional package, real meat delivers nutrition in its original, fully intact form.
The Carnivore Bar is a survival bar, not a diet or “Ozempic-style” bar. It is built on real beef and tallow—ancestral, nutrient-dense foods that provide both energy and essential fat-soluble nutrients in a highly bioavailable form.
Red meat uniquely provides key compounds like L-carnitine, which plays a critical role in transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria for ATP production, and it is one of the most bioavailable sources of vitamin B12, along with a full spectrum of naturally occurring minerals in their most usable form.
How is protein measured through nitrogen testing and how can it be inflated?
Protein is typically estimated using nitrogen testing (Kjeldahl or Dumas methods), which measures total nitrogen in a food and converts it into an estimated protein value. This approach assumes nitrogen equals protein, but it does not measure protein quality, amino acid profile, or true bioavailability—only total nitrogen content.
Because of this, protein values can be inflated through amino spiking: adding inexpensive nitrogen-containing compounds or free-form amino acids (such as glycine, taurine, or creatine) to artificially increase measured “protein” without adding equivalent amounts of complete, high-quality protein like meat (real food nutrition). This can distort label accuracy by increasing nitrogen without improving the functional amino acid profile needed for muscle protein synthesis.
Do you use any shelf stabilizers, fillers, and preservatives?
No. We do not use shelf stabilizers, fillers, preservatives, or proprietary blends. Our focus is full transparency and real food nutrition, using only whole-food ingredients. Unlike many products that rely on blended or fractionated protein systems, we do not inflate protein content with added amino acids or isolated components. Our formulation is built around real, ancestral, recognizable foods to deliver authentic, nutrient-dense nutrition. Pemmican has been used for centuries as a naturally preserved, shelf-stable food.
Where is the Carnivore Bar available for purchase?
The Carnivore Bar is available directly through our online store. We manufacture in-house, which gives us full quality control over every step of production—from ingredient sourcing to final packaging—ensuring consistent quality, full accountability, and transparency with every order.
This direct-to-consumer model stands in contrast to much of the protein bar industry, which is heavily reliant on white labeling. White labeling is when products are manufactured by third-party copackers and then sold under different brand names. While efficient for scaling, this system often limits oversight and can lead to variability in ingredient quality, formulation integrity, and manufacturing standards across brands. Many are surprised when they learn even “clean” and smaller brands are white labeling.
By keeping production in-house, we maintain strict standards and transparency, ensuring that what’s on the label is exactly what’s in the bar.
- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS -
What is your shipping and return policy?
We recognize Carnivore Bar is unlike most products you've purchased, and we want you set up for success. Each bar goes through a full week of production, from sourcing hand-selected cuts to the final seal, crafted to be kept, not returned. That said, every sale is final. No refunds. No returns. No exchanges. The only exception is a confirmed manufacturing defect; taste or texture preference falls outside the scope of this policy.
Our bars are real food, formulated for long-term shelf storage and emergency preparedness. Once an order leaves our facility, supply-chain integrity prevents it from being received back, resold, or redistributed, which is why every transaction is permanent.
Not sure yet? We strongly recommend starting with a single bar sample before committing to a larger order. Our chatbot can walk you through flavors, storage tips, and anything else before you buy.
Do you ship internationally?
While we love the global community that has previously purchased from us, we are now only shipping to the USA as we've run into problems with other countries accepting our packages since meat products are highly regulated and every country seems to have different import laws. Until we can be sure that international customers will be able to receive the packages they order from us, we will continue to ship only within the US. We apologize for the inconvenience and we are working hard to find a solution to ship The Carnivore Bar world-wide.
What's in each bar?
Each bar is slightly more protein than fat by volume, giving the bar a delightful crunch that we’ve engineered mechanically, without having to add anything chemical or unnatural that might upset our digestion.
Why are there crunchy pieces in the bar?
The crunchy texture in the bar is from the dehydrated beef. The crunch is normal, but we recommend chewing mindfully if you have sensitive teeth. Traditional pemmican has a slimy consistency, which most people find unpalatable, so we’ve intentionally created a unique texture that’s more enjoyable to eat! Slightly crunchy due to the drying process, and slightly creamy from the tallow.
My Carnivore Bars are soft or have melted - Are they bad? do they need to be refrigerated?
Nope! Carnivore Bars are shelf-stable, meaning they don’t need to be refrigerated. Although they will be slightly softer in warmer weather, this just means that there are zero fillers or preservatives used. The shelf-life of the bars are not affected by temperature as a result of the technology we use to make them. Feel free to throw them in the fridge overnight to harden up if you prefer a firmer, crunchier texture. Check out more about our bars here.
What kind of salt do you use for the salted bars?
We use Redmond's Real Salt in all of our salted bars. Redmond’s Real Salt “is unrefined sea salt mined from an ancient seabed in Utah where it’s safe from modern pollutants.”

When do the bars expire?
Though our bars don’t have an official “expiration date,” we’re in the process of assessing their shelf-life for a definitive answer - we’re attempting to prove 25 years! Like pemmican, Carnivore Bars are naturally shelf stable due to the absence of moisture left in the meat of the finished product, which we test with a water activity meter for each batch. Additionally, to reduce risks of oxidation we use specialized wrappers that don’t allow for oxygen or moisture to enter into the product, which would cause food spoilage.
