WHY DOES THE VEGAN DIET FAIL SO MANY?

And What Meat-Based Celebs Want You to Know

It’s a question that’s become hard to ignore. Why do so many people crash and burn on a vegan diet—even when they’re doing everything “right”?

The answer is simple: the vegan diet is not species-appropriate.

Humans are not herbivores. We’re not designed to live off grains, legumes, and kale smoothies. Our brains, bones, and biology are built on animal foods—foods rich in the essential nutrients that plants simply can’t provide in usable amounts.

We’re talking about:

  • Vitamin B12 for nerve function

  • Vitamin K2 for heart and bone health

  • Taurine and glycine for neurotransmitters, detox, and longevity

  • Cholesterol for hormone production and cell structure

  • Heme iron for oxygen transport

  • Retinoic acid (true vitamin A) for vision, immunity, and fertility

Plant-based versions of these nutrients are either missing entirely, locked behind fiber and antinutrients, or in forms the body barely absorbs. That’s why plant protein is dramatically less bioavailable than meat, and why many longtime vegans end up looking… well, not exactly vibrant.

Don’t believe it? Let’s take a look at some plant-based A-listers who had to learn the hard way.

1. What 10 Years of Veganism Did to Ariana Grande

Before: Glowing, strong, healthy.
After: Washed out, fatigued, and publicly struggling with health challenges.

Ariana Grande spent over a decade on a strict vegan diet. But fans have noticed the toll—reduced muscle tone, sunken facial features, and low energy. Recently, she's started reintroducing animal-based nutrients, citing the need to prioritize her health. She may sing like an angel—but even angels need steak.

2. Angelina Jolie: “Being Vegan Nearly Killed Me”

You read that right. Jolie once followed a vegan diet, but after her health declined, she opened up about how it impacted her body: “I was a vegan for a long time, and it nearly killed me. I found I was not getting enough nutrition.”

She now fuels herself with red meat, nutrient-rich animal fats, and ancestral eating habits. And judging by her continued vitality and fierce energy on-screen, it’s working.

3. Miley Cyrus: “My Brain Wasn’t Functioning Properly”

After several years of veganism, Miley Cyrus revealed that her brain and body were suffering: "I was vegan for a very long time and I’ve had to introduce fish and omegas into my life because my brain wasn’t functioning properly."

Miley said she loves animals—but she had to choose her health over ideology. After reintroducing fish and other animal foods, her clarity and strength returned. There’s compassion in self-preservation.

4. Liam Hemsworth: Vegan No More After Kidney Stones

Hemsworth was one of the poster boys for a “clean” vegan lifestyle—until it wrecked his kidneys. After suffering painful kidney stones (from a diet rich in oxalates—found in spinach, almonds, and beets), Liam ditched veganism and returned to animal-based eating.

He told Men’s Health that he was doing what he thought was best—until his body showed him otherwise.

5. Hayden Panettiere: Vegan to Vital Again

Panettiere quietly stepped away from veganism after noticing fatigue, hormonal imbalances, and mood instability. While she hasn’t spoken publicly about her switch, insiders say the actress and singer has embraced a more animal-based diet to support her healing and energy.

The pattern is familiar: years of struggle, followed by powerful recovery—once meat is back on the menu.

6. Ariana Grande Before and After: A Tale of Two Photos

The transformation is hard to miss. Earlier photos of Ariana show vibrancy, strength, and glow. Compare that to recent images during her strict vegan years—sunken cheeks, low muscle tone, and brittle hair.

While beauty standards are subjective, biological health is not. And it’s clear her body was crying out for nutrients only found in meat.

7. Hard Pills to Swallow…

Here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear:

  • Vegan diets lead to long-term nutrient deficiencies

  • Most plant-based proteins are incomplete or poorly absorbed

  • “Healthy” vegan meals are often loaded with seed oils and ultra-processed junk

  • Many ex-vegans report massive improvements within days of reintroducing animal foods

Hard pills to swallow? Maybe.
But not as hard as swallowing another bland tofu burger when your body is begging for a ribeye.

Closing Thoughts: Meat Heals. It’s That Simple.

There’s no need to guess anymore. When meat is removed from the diet, people decline. When it’s added back, they recover.

That’s not a fad. That’s biology.

The vegan diet may be trendy—but so was margarine. So were low-fat SnackWells. So was smoking.
It’s time to stop playing games with our health.

Eat meat. Save lives. Thrive.
